FABRICS

Our fabrics come mainly from Spain and Italy. We buy a large part of our range directly from manufacturers we have known for decades. This way we can have a say in where and how our range is made.

The fibers used are high-quality and durable, which makes them very pleasant to use. Our fabrics do not use chemical treatments that would increase dirt repellency, for example. Our fabrics have a diverse selection of natural fibers, synthetic fibers and their blends. We use natural fibers such as cotton, linen and viscose.

You can also choose removable upholstery for sofas and lounge chairs. In this case, the frame upholstery must also be removable. The cushions always have zippers that make it easy to remove the covers.

Fabric composition

The composition of fabrics always affects durability and other properties. The fabrics we use are of very high quality, whether measured by abrasion resistance, light resistance or any other measure. Most of our fabrics recommended for home use have an abrasion resistance (Martindale value) of over 25,000, which means that the product is suitable for demanding home use. The Martindale value is the value obtained from the abrasion test of the fabric. The fabric has been rubbed 25,000 times with a certain weight before any changes are observed.

LEATHERS

We buy our leather from European factories. They mainly use European raw hides. This way we can be sure of how and where the leather is made. All the leather we buy is a by-product of the food industry.

Even the most durable leather requires regular care to stay as good as new for years. We recommend that you take precautions when caring for your leather product. The best way to care for your leather product is to vacuum it regularly and carefully (use a soft nozzle and avoid rubbing) and, if necessary, clean it with a damp cloth. Stains can be removed with a cloth or sponge dampened with mild soapy water. However, never rub the surface of the leather or let it get too wet. Damp leather should also not be rubbed or dried with a hairdryer.

The furniture leathers we use can be roughly divided into three different types based on how they have been treated. The leather types are, in order from the most delicate to the most processed, aniline, semi-aniline and cover-dyed leather. When the furniture is in use, the leather ages and patinas in different ways depending on the type of wear and tear it is subjected to, how it is cared for and what type of leather it is.

Aniline leather is leather at its most natural. It is also the highest quality of the leather types. The best hides are used as the material. The dyed surface is dyed without any covering treatments, so it is very breathable and therefore also very comfortable and soft. The natural irregularities of the leather are visible and the surface patinas over time. The surface of the leather has not been repaired, patinated or pigmented to make it more even. Due to the minimal processing, aniline leather is more sensitive to external stress factors than other leather types. Aniline leather is also the most porous of the leather types, meaning it easily absorbs impurities and therefore requires the most care.

Semi-aniline leather is very similar to aniline leather: natural and soft. It still shows the natural characteristics of the leather. In addition to the dyeing, its surface has a light sanding and a varnish, oil or paint finish, which makes it a little easier to maintain, as the surface is not as porous as aniline leather. This leather also patinas over time.

Cover-dyed leather is the easiest to care for. In addition to through-dyeing, cover-dyed leather has been sprayed with a cover-dye and varnish layer, giving it a very even surface. The treatments have created a protective layer on the surface, which improves the leather's wear resistance. The surface is finished by sanding before through-dyeing. The even patterning of the leather is created after sanding by embossing, or pressing with a die. Cover-dyed leather is durable, but still soft. The breathability of the leather and the number of color layers vary. This type of leather requires the least maintenance, as the protective layers prevent impurities from being absorbed into its surface. However, you should also take care of this leather regularly by wiping it with a damp cloth and vacuuming it if necessary.

LEGS FOR SOFAS, CHAIRS AND TABLES

The raw material for the legs is either wood or metal. We mainly use domestic manufacturers, which means our supply chain is as short as possible. This allows us to customize our product with a faster delivery time.

We use birch and ash as wood species, with birch, soap-waxed ash and oak as standard colours. The metal legs are available in black or painted aluminium. Special colours can also be made to order for both leg materials.

TABLE TOPS

Our coffee tables are made of MDF. Veneer or laminate is attached to the surface of the board. The table top can also be painted if desired. We use walnut and oak as veneers. The laminate in our collection is Nano-laminate, which has a very matte surface and is extremely wear-resistant. In addition, the surface has an anti-scratch treatment. The materials available for coffee tables vary by collection.

FRAMES AND PADDING

We use only Finnish solid wood and plywood in our sofas and recliners. The frames are manufactured in Finnish factories that we know well. This ensures the quality of the products and how and where they are manufactured. The springs in the frames are either crossed rubber belts or metal zigzag springs.

We use foam, wadding and feathers as padding, mixing them with either foam chips or wadding. All our padding materials come from European factories. The feathers are cleaned and allergy tested. They are collected or manufactured in an ethically sustainable manner.
